"...a French privateer of size, fitted out at Bordeaux for the express purpose of taking flour vessels on the American coast, was wrecked high up in Buzzard’s Bay... The crew were carried prisoners to Boston. The surgeon, Francis Le Baron, came to Plymouth; which place at that time being destitute of a physician, the Selectmen petitioned the executive [William Stoughton] for his liberation..."
